Association of Outsourcing Professionals of Nigeria held its 6th Edition of the yearly Outsourcing Expo on the 8th of June 2017 at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos where industry executives addressed the theme: ‘Setting global standard for outsourcing in Nigeria’. The Expo, was addressed by the Group Managing Director of Custodian & Allied Insurance Plc in person of Mr Wole Oshin, as the keynote speaker. Other guest speakers present at the event are Mr Opeyemi Agbaje, Chief Executive Officer of RTC Advisory Services Limited , Mr Kolawole Oyeyemi, General Manger, Consumer Marketing at MTN Nigeria , Mrs. Helen Emore, Chief Executive Officer of Advantage Projects and Adora Ikewuemesi, Director of Kendor Consulting Limited was the moderator at the event.
AOPN, posit that outsourcing will help the federal government create jobs for the nation, advising that Nigeria should copy from other nations to make the country an investment destination. The Minister of Communications, Barrister Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, further agrees that if outsourcing is properly utilized, it is capable of growing Nigeria’s economy and providing an average of 1 million jobs.
At the event, The President of AOPN, Dr. Austin Nweze, said that outsourcing is one option which government can resort to in creating jobs. He stated: “Countries like Mauritius, The Philippines, India have been able to use outsourcing to strengthen their economies.” He however believes that only two things should not be outsourced which are ‘your spouse or your creative thinking”
The MD/CEO of Integrated Corporate Services Limited who is a board member of the association also graced the occasion and presented awards to the key speakers at the event. Integrated Corporate Services Limited was also recognized for having over 10,000 outsourced staff in Nigeria.
